Moonlit dream in the city of night p.1

The moon shone brightly in the city of night. Even the darkest alleys of the city's crowded residence felt it's silver radiance. The streets were never empty, and it scarcely winks. All but one pair shared this feeling. A maiden whose dreams had been realized, and a man whose wishes are yet to be fulfilled.

The shop beside the church "The Seventh Moon" housed several lovely objects, all handcrafted by the lovely muse that it housed, Dawn. One could say that she reflected the shop itself. Her eyes reflected the moon's delicate light, her hair was as lovely as the illuminated sky, her fragile skin was pale, yet radiant. She wasn't cold, like the night breeze, and yet she was as tall as the night's embrace. And yet, she was lonely, the moon in a brightly illuminated city. She, too, could not reach the earth, this heavenly body.

I, Beaux, a wandering soul, have crossed the night-city's boundless streets. I, at one point, stumbled upon the same night sky as the lady's. It was as if fate has drawn me to her humble establishment. I had visited not so often shops like hers, and yet the beauty of her works were like a goddess's. I have continued to visit her humble abode for s time, and noticed something unusual. It was a big question as to why her works continue to go unnoticed.

"Madame, your works are amazing" I said.

"...oh, but amazing as they are, I have to leave town if business continues to plummet" she said.

"was it not your dream, m'lady, to sell your works?"

"do you think I am... so free?" she brashly replied

The lady paused. She took a glance at I, and her face did not show a smile. She took three items, and placed it before her. "Oh, please, Beaux... Help me save my dream!" she desperately said.

I nodded, and pridefully took all three. I had asked her before I headed out: "Once I sell these, won't you come with me?".

She had given me the biggest smile that I had ever received. Her pale cheeks had turned rosy, and her next words were no surprise

"I would be glad to"

My inner fire was kindled. I had not wasted any moment, and blindly wandered the city of night. It was only till midnight did I sell but one trinket. I had run out of potential buyers, since I have travelled even the back alleys of the city of night. I rested at the city's park, home to the city's attraction: "Firefly Lamp", a large lamp that warmly glows like the fireflies, and plays a calming tune during midnight. It was an attraction not only for the lovebirds, but also for poets and musicians alike.

What should have been my short rest turned into a somewhat lonesome melodic parody as a bystander, who introduced himself as a minstrel. He sang about freedom, and sang about the stars. After a song, he approached me.

"You seem quite down, young man." he said, as he approached me, lute in hand.

"I must sell this last trinket for my love, minstrel. Won't you help me achieve my dream?"

"ah..." the minstrel paused for a second. He looked up to the stars, and strummed his lute. "It is good to be free, non? It is also good to dream"

I nodded, and gave him a smile. I, too, then gazed upon the heavenly bodies.
"...of course. To live is to be free to dream. And to be free, one must live for their dream."

"Ah..." the minstrel paused again. "do you think that she is so free?"

"I'm afraid I don't follow..."

the minstrel sat at the fountain's edge. He gave a sigh. "A man... such as yourself, wishes to wander, do you not?"

"Aye, that's true!" I hastily replied. "I have wishes to travel the lands before me"

"Ah..." the minstrel paused. "You must see for yourself, then."

The minstrel reached for his wallet. He handed a hefty sum, enough for one trinket. "On your way now, child" he said. I handed him the last piece and rushed to my love's side. I did not pay heed to the minstrel's words. I truly wished, at that moment, that the lady accepts my offer.
