Game Over -part 4 (by: strahl gewehr)

Platina looked at the now-dirtied clothes she was wearing. She then looked at Quartz. She slightly tilted her head towards the sky.

Yeah, let's go...

-------------------------------------
Biology class, the two-hour class
-------------------------------------

[the Science lab was like your everyday classroom. It has a whiteboard for drawings, and a chalkboard for lectures and displaying charts. It has different bottles that contains samples from various animals. The tables that the students use has one lavatory in it with some disinfecting supplies and cleaning agents. The tables have drawers where the tools are separated by function. The lab has lockers in it at the far back containing the student's coats and their other belongings to prevent them from cluttering while class is ongoing. The room is bathed in white; from the lab coats, to the floor tiles, and even the tables that both students and teachers use. The room has a ceiling vent, and there are jalousies that serve as ventilation at the left side of the room.]

The materials needed for the biology class was already set for that afternoon.

Okay guys, I'm going to group you now... Said the teacher with a straight face

Rather...you're going to group yourselves! Choose your 5 memebers carefully, guys... And as for the girls, if you don't want to hold a frog, then take a few male members with you, okay? ---the teacher added.

something like this happened, since usually there's more than five in a clique

Soon after the teacher declared the method of grouping, the class turned chaotic. No one wants to be left-out of their groups. And there are some who'd take advantage of the situation (referring to the teacher's statement above) to be with the girls.

From the not-so-distant table that Platina and her friends were, Platina signaled for Quartz.

Hey Quartz, wanna join us? we're two members short  ---Said Platina

Quartz replied: hmm.. okay

As Quartz slowly approached the group, Platina's friends were giggling while looking at her. Platina gave the two a light pat on the head, looked at them with a comic face, and said:

"It...t's not like that! Y...you two better cut that out, or you're gonna get it"

From behind Platina, Quartz reached his hand onto her shoulder.  Unbeknownst to her, Platina's face was slightly blushing. As she turned her head, Quartz immediately noticed the change.

Are you ok? Your face kinda looks red --- Said Quartz, in a curious tone.

Platina touched her cheek with her hand and turned her head away from Quartz's gaze, and replied: I'm....I'm fine! It's nothing...

Behind Platina, the other two girls were giggling at Platina. Platina gave another helping of "soft" knocks on the two's heads.

Oh, do you mind if he tags along? He doesn't have a group too ---Said Quartz, while pointing at the boy next to him.

H...hello....um... c...can I join you too...?  --- Said the boy

Oh, hey talc, you've been left out again, haven't you? You're more than welcome to join us --- Said Platina

Platina immediately grabbed Quartz's hand and said: Could we talk for a moment?

Sure --- Said Quartz

The two walked away from their groupmates for a moment. Without a hint of doubt, Quartz immediately knew it was because he brought talc with him. Quartz wasn't the type to ignore people that were left-out, and neither was Platina. Both of them knew that this would happen once in a while.

The two of them stopped near the door. Platina didn't let go of Quartz's hand. Instead, she put on a serious face, and said:
Quartz, you have to stop pampering talc. Even if he's very timid and shy, he should at least try to make progress at making friends, except for you and me.

Quartz immediately replied: Oh come on Platina, don't be like that. I know what I'm doing. If he's introduced to other people, then mabye...

Platina said in response: Maybe what? That won't help him overcome his shyness. You should know better than to just ...

To just let him join us? What are you, really? I'm trying to help the guy out and now you're telling me to leave him be? --- Said Quartz

Platina looked disappointed with herself. With a low voice, she responded: You know that wasn't what I was trying to tell you...

Quartz immediately noticed the mood, and said: Sorry, I got caught up in the moment...let's just finish this, okay?

Platina paused, and said: Fine...

The two went back to their group. It was also just in time, since the teacher instructed the students to write the names of their groupmates in a piece of paper provided by their group, along with their signatures. The signatures would also serve as their attendance for the period.

The two girls and talc noticed that Platina and Quartz both weren't in a good mood after their return. The two seemed down. It was, however, noticeable that they both continued to work for their groupmates.

Talc showed exemplary effort while the class was in session, however, talked very little. When he was asked by one of the girls about what they are to do next, he always seemed like he was surprised. Even when Quartz was asking him, he'd always be a bit jumpy. Although he got most of the job done that was asked of him, not once did he complain, and not one task was half-assed.

--------------------------------
Biology class, clean-up time
--------------------------------

Talc, would you mind removing the frog from the board and into the "pile" ? --- Said Platina
Oh, and clean the pins and the boar while you're at it, okay? --- She added

Okay, then I'll clean the scalpel and the other stuff with you, Talc ---Said Quartz

While the girls were taking care of the paperwork (to be passed after clean-up time), Talc removed the pins from the dissecting board, and put the frog in the "pile", while Quartz gathered the tools used, and then the two went to their designated group lavatory.

Talc was the first to use the sink. As Quartz waited for him to finish, Talc turned his head towards him, and said:

Th...thanks for today... I'm....I'm sorry about earlier...I know you talked to Platina about me joining...so... I...I...

Quartz gave a smile at Talc. Before talc could finish what he was going to say, he reached talc's head with his hand and messed his hair a bit, and said:

Don't worry, okay? She can be quite a handful to talk to sometimes, but she'd never leave anyone out without a good reason.

Quartz grinned, and added: So, cheer up, okay?

Hurry up, I wanna get home early today. The sooner we clean up, the earlier we can go --- Quartz added

Talc looked surprised, and somehow looked relieved. He responded to Quartz with a smile and a quick nod.

Platina waved at the two guys signaling that they were done with the papers. Talc went back to their group first, along with some of the now-cleaned tools.

While Quartz was cleaning the other tools, he mumbled to himself: Geez, what'd happen to those two if I wasn't here...?
Naaahh, I think it'd be pretty much be the same...hehehe... --- he added.

After a few minutes, Quartz came back to their group with a smile on his face. He looked at what everyone was doing. The two girls with them were talking about girl-stuff; Talc was writing something on a notebook; and Platina was leaning backwards their table and looking at the view outside from the nearby window. It seemed to him that in this situation, everything is going well.

Talc was done with what he was writing, and looked at Quartz. He seemed like he was going to say something important to him.
Surprised, Quartz curiously asked Talc: Hmm? Need something Talc?

Talc put away his pen and notebook aside, and said:  I....I have to tell you something later...

With his curiosity further piqued, Quartz gave a nod, and replied: Okay, later then, after class.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
After class, 4:30 pm, pathway to school gates from D building
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The pathway to the school's gate was a bit far from the cast's building, since its the farthest from the four other buildings. The path itself is made of decorative bricks that were red in color (they seem to have faded). To the path's left is a road for cars; The right, filled with flowering plants and some trees that weren't in season, along with a view that would make one see the other three buildings. Here also lies the dirtpath that leads to where Platina and Quartz caught frogs. Since the building was far, walking alone seemed tiresome since most students go and talk while on their way home.

Talc waited for Quartz. As soon as Quartz came to their usual meeting place, He immediately asked: So, what's up?

Talc smiled at Quartz and said: Thanks again for today....and....

And what? Geez, tell me already --- Quartz excitedly said

I...we're..moving...I'm sorry... ---Said Talc

Surprised, Quartz replied: WHAT?! when? why?

It's....tonight...it's because of my dad's work. So I wanted to thank you before I left...---  Said Talc

But...I had a great time, thanks to you and Platina. I'll try my best not to be so timid and shy anymore...so...thanks...--- he added.

From behind Quartz, a familiar girl's voice said: Don't worry, I know you will, because you can

P....Platina?! where'd you pop out of? ---Said Quartz

I...I'm sorry....It's okay, I kinda wanted to tell her too anyways...---Said Talc

Hmmm....what about the school dance? That's this friday, and you're gonna miss it. --- Said Platina

I'm...I....I tried asking someone out....but... ----Talc replied

But what? you chickened out because you're leaving, right? ---Said Quartz

Th....that's not...! ---Said Talc

Platina slightly pushed Quartz's forehead and said: Stop being such a jerk, he obviously was too shy to ask!

Talc looked at the two with a smile on his face, different from the smile he gave Quartz earlier. He looked at Quartz again, and said:

Quartz...are you...have you...asked....

he discontinued what he was going to say, and looked at Platina with a grin.

Platina and Quartz immediately blushed and both said:

No we're not!
