The Pressing Encounter

"Is it raining outside?" Silver asked, still half-asleep.

"It's a fine, sunny day with a high chance of trees" Argent sarcastically replied, followed by a quick chuckle.

"You're an Asshole" I laughed.

It was pouring outside. The wind was practically shouting, and the trees weren't exactly the silent type on a rainy day either. This kind of weather was exactly what reminded me of what happened last Thursday.

It was already a quarter past eight'o clock, and I woke up at the sound of the vicious winds just outside Silver and Argent's place. It sounded like race cars whooshing through as it passed by. I slept on their couch as usual.

I have to be at the office before nine, so I took a quick bath, suited-up for work, borrowed a spare shirt from Silver, and skipped breakfast. I brought my bag and my gray umbrella with me. I was practically run-walking to the nearest stop, and was hoping that a jeep would magically be there when I get there.

And sadly, there was.

It started to trickle. I rode the first jeep that I saw (it was going where I wanted to) and took a short breath. I gave the fair, and noticed that there were only two passengers.

"oh, it's you, copper!" the other passenger said.

"Oh, hi." I tried to keep calm.

It was one of our previous bosses. I, Silver, and Radon went to the same company last year for our on-the-job-training, an experience that was quite unpleasant.

"So how are those two....um...." she said, trying to remember Silver and Radon, even closing her eyes as she think.

"Silver?" I said

"Yes! How are you two..?" she curiously inquired.

"we're fine" I tried to play it safe. I slowly lowered my eyes to look sleepy, and eventually lowered my head as she paid her own fare. I gave a weak, fake yawn. I usually sucked at acting, so I wasn't exactly sure if I'm gonna pull it off.

"have you graduated yet...?" she pressed for more.

"No, I'm going to my OJT2 now" I was still playing it cool.

I stopped the conversation there. I pretended to sleep. I held my umbrella like a sword stuck on the ground, then I rested my head on top of the handle. For the rest of the ride, I patiently awaited her departure. And when she did, the weather turned for the worse.
