Between the Lines of Lies

I went out the office as soon as the air-conditioning went out, meaning lunch. I've registered 12:30 in the afternoon as my dismissal today. I'm supposed to meet alexandrite and Gen down at the mall because of a promise that I made. I've got a nagging feeling of today's events. Bad ones.

Just a few hours earlier, as I was going to work, I had a hard time looking for a ride. I should've gone and considered the three consecutive jeepneys that passed with the same signboard as my school, which just happened to be so rare. I even asked myself "I wonder...."

I arrived at the mall just 45 minutes after lunch. The jeep just flew past the usual hour-and-a-half traffic schedule, and as I entered, I already bumped to my friends.

Gen, one of the main reasons why I went, reached his pocket. "Here, your phones"

"Formal?" Alexandrite, or lexie, as I call her said.

"Uh... Work?"

They looked worried. They must've noticed the lies in my face. They both approached me, and wrapped their arms on my back, like a one-armed embrace.

"Spill" Lexie laughed.

Gen lightly punched my stomach "girl troubles?"

"nahhh. I've got a strange feeling today. Something big is gonna happen, like-"

"five years ago" Gen interrupted.

Lexie, who didn't know what we were talking about, stayed silent for a while. What she doesn't know won't harm her anyways.

"Someone must've gone into the mix"

"Someone... You don't mean..." Gen worried.

"I'm not sure. Might be on my side or on yours."

"Probably yours" Lexie interrupted, pointing at me.

I've got the most unusual luck about hunches. Whether its to save someone's ass or to save cash, I've usually gotten it right. Most of the time I couldn't save my own ass with my own hunches though.

I looked at my watch and fifteen minutes already passed. Staying with them wasn't the point of this little plan, so I went and excused myself out, eventually going to school.

I ended up hanging out at Silver and Argent's. The usual places were empty; and I found it so strange. It was only a quarter past 1.

"no one was there"

"yeah, that could be my fault" Said Argent.

"What!?"

A darker smile emanated from Argent "Nothing was happening so I pushed it a bit"

"We're supposed to observe! Why'd you do it?!"

"it's been going on for a while now, and there's no progress" Said Argent

"You just broke the observer rule"
